For the last six months I have had the pleasure of working with the Moore Australia Corporate Finance team under the directorship of Colin Prasad and Benjamin Yeo. The opportunity has been foundational to my understanding of corporate finance and has provided exposure to a range of fantastic businesses in a wide variety of sectors as well as stages of life.
The strong culture within the corporate finance division eased finding my feet as they cordially welcomed myself into the team. Tasman Perrin, Pranay Shewani and Ethan Baade the other analysts in the division were exceptional in offering advice and answering the myriad questions I threw their way!
Importantly, the internship has provided the occasion to apply in a ‘real-life’ setting the often seemingly abstract teachings and theories of my currently in progress commerce degree. This has shifted my perspective tremendously, expanding my passion for finance and diverting my attention to the more applicable subjects the university has to offer. Having now experienced corporate finance in practise at Moore, I can craft my degree with much more knowledge and insight into what is truly useful in the real world.
I have had the chance to learn and perform a diverse set of tasks ranging from financial modelling, valuations, sell-side advisory, buy side analysis and sector research all of which has allowed myself to grow in skill set and ability. The wide range of work meant each day was different and stimulating. One day might be assisting a client to source strategic investors to fund their unique growth journey. While the next could be valuing a business or conducting due diligence for a potential transaction. There were plenty of opportunities to learn and play a critical role in assisting the team to solve often the most important challenges Moore Australia’s clients face.
I highly recommend to all University students to consider applying for an internship at Moore Australia for the unparalleled ability to grow as an individual and gain a far different, more hands-on complement to your degree.
