Australia’s subdued economic conditions have not dampened the appetite for M&A activity in Australia’s $12b professional accounting services industry.

Geelong-based accounting firm ProAdvice has joined Moore Australia to create one of the reigon's largest accounting, tax, audit, and advisory firms.

ProAdvice’s entire accounting team of 30-plus accountants and advisers join Moore Australia (VIC/TAS), adding three directors and eleven specialists.

The move, which took place on 1 July 2023, has doubled the size of Moore Australia’s Geelong and Western District team and added a new Launceston office to the firm’s growing regional network of independent firms.

Moore Australia is an independent member of the Moore Global network, the 11th largest professional services network globally, with over 30,000 people working in 260 independent firms across 110 countries.

Moore Australia (VIC/TAS)'s CEO Mr. Steven Sakkas said that the move was motivated by cultural fit and a strong desire to deepen and diversify Moore Australia’s accounting services and tax advice for businesses, agribusinesses, and private clients.

Mr Sakkas said that incoming Directors Clinton Peake, John Gibson and Chris Scheid would make an immediate impact on Moore Australia, given their decades of experience in managing clients and helping businesses prosper.

ProAdvice’s decision to join our firm is a significant milestone in the growth of the Moore Australia Network.

“ProAdvice has been very familiar to us in terms of their culture, client servicing ethos, and regional expertise for a very long time,” Mr Sakkas said.

“The move will create immediate synergies for our clients.

“By being together it means we will be able to expand our capabilities, connections and opportunities within the Geelong District and Launceston markets.

“It will give our city clients access to a deeper set of regional skills and capabilities.  And it enables regional businesses to tap into our capital city strengths, including financial planning services, debt advisory, governance and risk, tax advisory, and audit and assurance services.

“In many respects, ProAdvice is a perfect fit for us and many of our clients, and we’re a perfect fit for them and many of their clients.  Like us, they care deeply about their clients and the quality of personalised service they provide.

“They also bring a diversified and different skill-set to Moore Australia, which I expect will have a positive and lasting impact on our firm,” he said.

ProAdvice’s Managing Partner Clinton Peake said: “By joining the Moore family, we’re not only bringing together two like-minded cultures and capabilities, but we’re also taking another step in our client servicing journey.”

The Chair of Moore Australia, David Tomasi, welcomed the addition of ProAdvice.

“It is great to see our member firms grow by continuing to invest in firms with a strong cultural and strategic affinity with the Moore Australia network and its growth plans,” he said.
