The Northern Territory has a way of getting into your blood. I joined Moore Australia (SA/NT) in 2007, and when the opportunity came to move north and lead our NT practice, I took it. Today I’m based in Darwin as Director of Moore Australia (NT).

The Territory economy is unlike anywhere else in Australia. Cattle stations the size of small countries. A growing defence presence. Tourism and hospitality operators, builders, sparkies, engineers and family businesses that keep the place running. And now a gas industry taking shape in the Beetaloo that’s bringing new investment and new faces into the market.

My clients sit right across that spectrum, from small private companies through to multinationals and not-for-profits, because that’s how the Territory works. Everyone’s connected to everything.

I’m not your everyday accountant, as I work as an extension of my clients’ businesses: part adviser, part business coach.

I stay involved to make sure the strategies we build together actually get implemented. Day to day, that means strategic and business planning, business growth and improvement, financial modelling and cash flow forecasting, management accounting, succession planning, and business services and taxation.
Lately, a lot of my conversations are about what’s coming. Local businesses want to know how to get ready for major project work, whether that’s gas, defence or infrastructure. Businesses from interstate and overseas want to know how to set up here properly. I help with both. That covers the practical things, like structuring and tax, and the less tangible ones, like understanding how the Darwin market actually operates and the relationships I’ve built with the local land councils over the years.
