Bio

Advising farming families, family corporates and SMEs across South Australia on farm business strategy, succession planning and agribusiness management for more than 30 years.

I work with farming families, family corporates and small to medium enterprises across South Australia. My advice covers farm business restructuring, refinancing, expansion, succession planning and collaborative farming. Whether you’re navigating drought, commodity price pressure or generational change, my role is to help you make clear, well-informed decisions about the future of your business.

Three decades in agribusiness advisory have given me deep knowledge of South Australia’s farming sectors and the pressures they face. My background is in agricultural science, not accounting, which means I bring a practical, production-informed perspective to every business conversation. I advise on leasing, share farming agreements, enterprise margin analysis and farm business expansion. Much of my work involves change management: helping families plan and communicate succession, adapt to shifting market conditions, and respond to industry challenges including drought and low commodity prices.

As non-executive chair of several family businesses, I coordinate clients’ professional advisor teams, bringing together accountants, financial planners, solicitors and agribusiness managers into structured family boards. This gives farming families a clear governance framework and a single point of coordination across their advisory relationships.

Training and industry development form an important part of my practice. I deliver farm management workshops and short courses across South Australia and across industries. Notable projects include PIRSA’s Red Meat and Wool Growth Program, where I developed 284 business plans between 2019 and 2022, and PIRSA’s Farm AgTech Adoption Plan Review, which involved 58 business plans in three months in 2023. Since 2013, I’ve contributed to the SA Dairy Farm Monitoring Program with Dairy SA. The “Improving Your Farm Business Profitability” short courses ran with SA Industry from 2016 to 2023, and I facilitated AWI/PIRSA Sticky Beak days across South Australia in February 2024 and February 2026.

Farming is personal. The businesses I work with are often built across generations, and the decisions we work through together affect families as much as they affect balance sheets. I focus on clear communication, practical advice, and making sure every member of the family understands where the business is heading and why. When I bring a client’s advisory team together into a family board, the goal is straightforward: everyone working from the same plan, with nothing falling through the gaps.
