As an Assistant Manager within our Audit & Assurance team, you will play a key role in leading audit engagements, supporting the development of junior team members, and delivering high-quality outcomes for clients. Working closely with our Managers and Directors, you will take ownership of engagements from planning through to completion, while also acting as a key point of contact for clients. You will contribute to workflow management, technical review and team leadership, ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with professional standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced auditor who is looking to accelerate their progression, with a clear pathway and support to move into a Manager role in the near term.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading audit and assurance engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery
  • Reviewing work, providing technical guidance, and supporting the development of junior team members
  • Managing workflow, budgets and timelines across multiple engagements while maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with audit standards and contributing to quality assurance processes across the team
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, team development, and contributing to broader client growth opportunities

About you

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience within Audit & Assurance, with a solid understanding of audit methodology, accounting standards, and professional practice environments. You will be CA/CPA qualified and bring experience managing engagements end-to-end, along with supporting and developing junior team members.

With a hands-on approach, you are confident leading engagements, building strong client relationships, and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You are organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

The ability to contribute positively to a collaborative team environment, will be key to success in this role. Experience working with larger client groups, complex structures or multi-entity environments will be highly regarded.

As a Director within our Business Advisory division, you will play a pivotal leadership role in the Darwin office. You will be responsible for driving client engagement, leading and developing a high-performing team, and contributing to the strategic growth of the practice.

You will oversee a broad portfolio of clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality advisory and compliance services, while identifying opportunities to add value and grow client relationships. You will also play a key role in business development and strengthening our presence in the local market.

You will be responsible for a broad range of leadership and accounting activities including, but not limited to:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Managing and growing key client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Providing strategic business, taxation and financial advice to clients across a range of industries
  • Reviewing complex financial statements, tax returns and compliance work
  • Interpreting financial data and delivering meaningful insights to support client decision-making
  • Overseeing management reporting, cash flow analysis and business performance reviews
  • Driving business development initiatives and contributing to the growth of the Darwin practice
  • Managing team performance, workflow and productivity to ensure delivery against budgets and deadlines.

About you

About you

The successful candidate will be a tertiary qualified and CA/CPA qualified Accountant with significant experience in public practice. You will be an established senior leader (Senior Manager or Director level) with a strong track record in managing client relationships, leading teams, and delivering high-quality advisory services.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in public practice accounting, within Business Advisory
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience mentoring and developing teams
  • Advanced technical skills across taxation, compliance and advisory
  • Experience with Xero, MYOB and similar accounting platforms
  • A commercial mindset, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and add value to clients
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to contribute to a positive team culture
