A message from the VIC CEO

A message from the VIC CEO

Steve Sakkas

Like many of you, I appreciate the opportunity December brings to take a breath and to take stock of the past year. This is especially true of 2020, having faced a global pandemic and the challenges of this unprecedented event.

First and foremost, our thoughts are with all of those and their families whose health has been directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19, and we send our sincerest wishes and strength for a full and speedy recovery. We also celebrate and applaud with you the brave heroes of our healthcare systems around the world as they work tirelessly and selflessly to care for people in need.

During the past 12 months, the pandemic has affected us all. It has impacted our societies, our businesses and the way we live our lives. Now, we are to define a ‘new normal’ where, for example, social distancing and hygiene measures set standards for the way we do business, interact and behave.

I would like to share with you how we have handled the situation so far and how we move forward.

In the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak, we took precautionary measures to have all our team members work from home.  This has proven to be an effective initiative. Our priorities have been and continue to be to protect our valued team members and ensure business continuity to service our clients. Our teams have worked tirelessly to address client needs and requirements, and I believe we have managed this well. As a result, we have seen a very modest impact on our business, and we have upheld the quality of our service.

Of course, we could not have achieved this without the support of our clients, team members and business partners. I am sincerely thankful for your trust in our services. Your backing provides the foundation for our continued growth and we are confident we will deliver the same quality advice and support you have come to expect of us throughout this year.

While many of our employees are now working safely from home, one thing will never change – you as our client remains our top priority. No matter where we are, whether it be at home or in the office, our commitment to you is stronger than ever. As always, we’re committed to your success, so please get in touch with your local Moore Australia (VIC) advisor and let us know how we can help you to keep your business moving forward.

Our growth and what lies ahead
As a firm, we have strived to place ourselves in a position where we can come out the other side of this pandemic well-positioned to drive forward, and although we continue to face the impacts of this pandemic, not only as a state but globally, I am confident that together we will continually evolve, adjust and grow.

Despite the complexities of this year, we have seen significant development and further expansion of our service lines to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. Our expanded offering across Governance & Risk Advisory, the second year for Corporate Finance, Debt Advisory, Corporate Bookkeeping, and our Family Office division enable us to pursue new prospects and alternative paths for our clients, and there is no better feeling than to enter a new year knowing it promises substantial opportunity.

Our new identity
The transition of the Moore Stephens brand to Moore Australia has aligned us with the new global brand and marks a point of change in our global community. It encapsulates the traditional core strengths of Moore Stephens while bringing to the fore a more modern, internationally relevant brand, supporting the future success of a globally connected accounting and advisory network.

Our new brand position of “Helping you thrive in a changing world” replaces the previous “Serious about success”.  While in the current climate, this may seem to be a bold statement, however it serves as a constant reminder of the commitment we make to our colleagues and partnerships with our clients, regardless of the obstacles put our way.

Our global links are especially vital as traditional businesses continue to be disrupted and the impacts of new technologies are realised. None of us can predict what 2021 will bring but what is certain and what is captured so brilliantly in this well-known quote is that “you can’t do today’s job with yesterday’s methods and be in business tomorrow”.

Once again, thank you for your continued support and partnership and our team looks forward to serving you to build a stronger organisation during 2021 and beyond. Season’s greetings to you and your families and have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.
