The winner’s passion for the profession stands out, says CA ANZ President Stephen Walker.
Darwin’s Nathan Reichstein CA has won the 2019 CA ANZ President’s Prize.
Nathan was one of 12 young Chartered Accountants from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong recognised as Young Regional Advocates for their contributions to the profession and their communities. The Young Regional Advocates are eligible for the President’s Prize.
Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) President Stephen Walker personally congratulated Nathan, who is Director of Business Advisory at Moore Stephens in the Northern Territory.
He said “it’s easy to see his passion for the profession and understand why he has achieved so much already.”
“There are many great stories examining the careers of Chartered Accountants, but Nathan’s leaps out at you as special for his contributions to our profession and his community.
“From a relatively young age he took on a leadership role with his firm and has thrived.
“He has also actively involved himself in supporting his profession and community.
“He’s also incredibly humbled and appreciative at being the 2019 President’s Prize winner, acknowledging all the amazing 2019 Regional Advocates.”
At the age of 24, Nathan was given the responsibility for managing the Moore Stephens (formally Hayes Knight) Northern Territory Office. He was the NT representative on the SA/NT Regional Council from 2014 to 2018 and a committee member and Chairperson on the NT Chartered Accountants Group (2014 to 2019).
Nathan is Chair of Board of the Essington International School in Darwin and a former treasurer of the Waratah Cricket Club.
Nathan said he was “shocked to have been considered for the Territory award much less be worthy of the National accolade.
“It has been a very humbling experience.
“This said, it is very much a team effort and I am very lucky to be supported by such a fantastic group in the NT CA Council, SA/NT Regional Council, my fellow directors and staff at Moore Stephens and Family, especially my wife Paula.”
He also acknowledged the contributions made by CA ANZ staff, all the Young CA panellists and fellow finalists.
The Young Regional Advocates are selected by CA ANZ Regional and Overseas Councils to recognise young accountants in their local regions.
The advocates, all under the age of 35, are also eligible for the 2019 President's Prize which was relaunched last year to help highlight the next generation of accounting profession leaders.
The prize includes A$1,000 to be donated to the charity or social venture start-up of Nathan’s choice which he has indicated will be Muddy Puddles which supports children and families with complex bowel and bladder conditions.
